PURITY: YOUR SUPPOSED STANDARD

When you hear the word purity, what comes to your mind?
Obviously as young people, when someone talks about purity we tend to think of sexual purity.

But purity has broader meanings. Purity basically means that nothing is added or taken away from our minds or our spirit that is not consistent with the character of God.

Purity has become a strange and foreign concept in our society today, because something has been added or taken away from just about everything we know and use today.

But there is one Person from whom nothing has been added to or taken away from for all eternity. This person is God, He is the only pure being in the whole universe.

To begin with, God is totally separate from all His creature. He is unique and holy . The uniqueness is affirmed in exodus 15: 11b which says “… Glorious in holiness fearful in praises doing wonders.”
And then because God is Holy, He is absolutely pure and good.

Therefore, He is untouchable and unstained by the evil of the world.
In other words, as a child of God, His perfection must be your standard for your moral character.
